OSSWWOcean Stone Skimming Worldwide
About OSSWW

A simple human act, taken seriously.

Ocean Stone Skimming Worldwide is a new organization built to give ocean stone skimming a global standard — starting with the 2026 Pacific Open at South Ponto Beach.

Origin

From local tradition to a shared standard.

Ocean stone skimming has been practiced for centuries on every coastline where smooth stones meet salt water. For most of that history, the rules lived where the rules were made — on a beach, between friends, between generations.

OSSWW is building a single, open framework for the sport: a shared rulebook, a sanctioning process for hosts, and a calendar of events that begins in 2026 with the Pacific Open in Carlsbad, California.

We are a new and openly evolving organization. Our calendar grows only as fast as we can confirm real events with real hosts.

Commissioner

Gully Flowers.

Commissioner, Ocean Stone Skimming Worldwide

Gully Flowers grew up skimming stones. He has spent countless hours with his two boys skimming stones in oceans all over the world — from quiet local coves to far coastlines most people never see.

He was captured by the deeply human experience of stone skimming, and how it binds us all at a core level. Anyone can do it. A child finds the same wonder in a good skip as a lifelong athlete finds in a perfect one.

That belief is the foundation of OSSWW: a sport open to everyone, taken seriously by a federation built to give it real structure on a global stage.

Coastlines first.
